Good News!!

Remember when I shared the information about the Diamond Blackfan Anaemia Foundation having a chance to take part in Chase Community Giving?  They needed enough votes to qualify for a free grant for research into DBA.

Well….we did it!

And the winner of the last $100,000 spot in the Chase Community Challenge is…. overcoming a deficit of 1617 votes in the last 12 hours is…. couldn’t have done it without their amazing families and friends is… the very humble and grateful … Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation! At 7:00pm we took the lead by 48 votes. We worked tirelessly throughout the night and at midnight we had secured 16,123 votes! We claimed 11th place (out of over 7000 charities!) by 721 votes! Each one of those votes over the past 14 days added to our win, not just in number, but in our hearts. Early voters put us at the top of the leaderboard right from the start inspiring us that we really could do this. Those votes in the middle of the competition gave us confidence that $100,000 was within our reach, if we preserved. Last minute voters were part of the final day push that we needed to take it home. Thank you, thank you, thank you one and all. YOU made this happen!

Chase Community Giving

We have an unprecedented opportunity to further the cause of DBA, here follows an email from Dawn Baumgardner, Executive Director of the DBA Foundation based in the USA -

We are excited about this opportunity to secure major funding for DBA research…
but we desperately need your help!

Since 2009 when the Chase Community Giving Program was established, over $20 million has been awarded to over 500 charities. Here comes the exciting news! The Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation has been given the chance to share in the

$5 million awards. The top 196 charities with the most votes will win between $10,000 and $250,000! That is money that could be used to support DBA patients, families, and research!

Here comes the plea! We need ALL of you, every single one of you, to vote and then please help spread the word. Please ask your Facebook friends and email contacts to vote for the DBA Foundation and to share these links. Chase customers can vote by logging in with their account information. Facebook users can vote on the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation’s Chase Community Giving Facebook page. Chase customers that are Facebook users can vote twice! These direct links can also we found on our website’s homepage.

Chase customers, please vote here: https://www.chase.com/online/Special-Offers/chasegiving_none.htm?dest=https://www.chase.com/online/Special-Offers/ccg_redirect.htm%3Fnptag%3DCCG

Facebook users, please vote here: https://www.facebook.com/ChaseCommunityGiving/app_162065369655?app_data=ein%7C16-1459422

Chase customers that are Facebook users, please do both!

The voting period is September 6 -19. Please take one minute to vote. Then take the extra minute to reach out to all your contacts and ask them for their much-needed help. Because of our small numbers, we need all of you to reach out to your families, friends, contacts and communities to rally support.

To make it easier to spread the word, the DBAF has created a sample e-mail and a sample press release. Both are available on our website’s homepage. Please feel free to use them as a template and to add your own personal information and experiences.

We often hear phrases like like “DBA Strong,” “DBA Family,” and “small, but mighty.” So… Let’s do this small, strong, mighty family! We can do this if everyone helps!

THANK YOU for your help.

Now that I’m all moved and settled, I decided to unpack all of the bags and give them a recount.  After the workshops there is quite a nice pile!

I can now reveal we have officially reached our target of 100 bags!! Infact, we have 113, and there is still over a month to go!

I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who got involved! Don’t forget, this isn’t the end! The deadline of the 31st August is still in place, and a second deadline will be created after this.
